QUALITY LABEL FOR INFRARED HEATING PANELS

New quality label for infrared heating panels.

The IG Infrarot Austria and the European Infrared Heating Alliance (EIHA) have introduced the 'European Quality Label for Infrared Heating'. This new seal of quality defines clear quality standards for infrared heating panels and creates transparency for consumers and specialist companies.

EIHA members have been able to apply for the seal of quality since 1 July 2024. It is an important step for standardisation in the infrared heating industry and helps to clearly identify quality products on the market.

ETHERMA is currently in the process of being audited to receive the 'European Quality Label for Infrared Heating' for its infrared panels.

More information about the seal of quality can be found here.

Four requirements for the quality seal

1. Radiation efficiency according to IEC 60675-3

A key criterion for the quality seal is the radiation efficiency according to the IEC 60675-3 standard. This standard evaluates how much of the energy used is converted into radiant heat. To receive the quality seal, the infrared heater must convert at least 40% of the electrical energy into radiant heat. This efficiency is crucial for the performance and cost-effectiveness of the heaters.

2. CE certification

The devices must have CE certification from independent testing institutes such as TÜV, VDE or ÖVE. This certification guarantees that the products meet the requirements of EN 60335-1, EN 60335-2-30 as well as the EMC, RoHS and WEEE regulations. This ensures that the infrared heating panels meet the basic European safety, environmental and quality standards.

3. Production monitoring

Another criterion is the annual production monitoring by independent testing institutes. This monitoring ensures that the products continuously comply with the required quality standards and that there are no deviations in production. This guarantees that the heaters deliver consistently high quality throughout the entire production period.

4. Compliance with the Ecodesign Directive

The infrared heaters must also meet the requirements of the Ecodesign Directive (2009/125/EC). The efficiency of the devices must be at least 38% to ensure energy efficiency and environmental compatibility. This directive aims to minimise the environmental impact of products while maximising energy efficiency.
